Three gelatin silver prints mounted on notebook pages, 1940-42, all dated and variously inscribed.
7 x 4 7/8 in. (image), 10 1/2 x 8 in. (mount), unframed.
Note: The photographs are attributed on the back of the mats to American painter Fairfield Porter whose brother, Eliot, was a photographer. Eliot is best-known for his color photography of nature. In 1940 Porter was working on black and white photographs. Alfred Stieglitz had just shown Porter's work for the first time in 1939. It is more likely that these photographs be attributed to Eliot Porter than to his painter-brother Fairfield.
Condition: Notebook paper with tears and losses around the binding holes. Ferdinand with a loss at the top right corner. Other tiny tears and losses at the sheet edges. Otherwise in good condition.,
