Painted plaster, 1915, indistinctly signed 'Gzino', titled, dated and inscribed 'Roma' on the underside.
8 1/2 x 5 x 6 in.
Note: This work has been attributed to the artist Alberto Savinio (1891-1952) by the previous owner, Dwight Ripley. Ripley was also an artist, among other professions, and was friends with Peggy Guggenheim, acquiring many works for his collection from The Art of This Century gallery. Ripley's collection inventory lists this works as by 'fr. di Chirico', referring to Savinio as the brother of Giorgio de Chirico. The brothers were together in Paris in 1915, travelling back to Italy that year. No supporting documentation is available.
